A wedding gown is probably the best opportunity that a modern woman has to wear something glamorous and imaginative. Your wedding is an occasion to celebrate the love and commitment you share with your partner, surrounded by family and friends. Why not wear a garment that showcases your taste and personality?

A twenty-first century bride has a much wider range of options than her grandmother did. White, the traditional wedding color since Queen Victoria first donned it, is no longer required. When executed tastefully, built from fine materials, and paired with a perfect fit, a gown in any color can be strikingly elegant.

Morúa Bridal gowns are a labour of love. Inside and out your dress will be constructed with the utmost care, using high quality materials and time tested methods.

Details such as hand stitched bust pads, skirts interlined with silk organza, and built in corselets set them apart from ordinary wedding gowns.

Placing an order

If you would like to order a custom gown, it is essential that you order as far in advance as possible. Six months minimum is ideal, although you are welcome to ask in case I can fit you in.

The process starts with a design consultation where we meet to determine if a Morúa gown is right for you. From there, the process continues with a selection of sketches and fabrics. After that, a pattern will be drafted to your specifications. A musling mock up will then be stitched from this pattern.

The most important function of a mock up is to make sure that the desired fit and effect are achieved. Numbers, measurements and mannequins can only get you so close, since pattern drafting can't always account for such nuances the curve of the back or the shape of the bust. The perfect fit is achieved by trying on a garment, and adjusting as necessary. For these reason is important for a bride to be available for at least two to three fittings.

The final step is a fabric fitting. This fitting should take place only a few weeks from your wedding. At this point the garment is almost there, it may only need a hem or a few additional adjustments. Soon after this you will be able to try on your finished gown and take it home to await its debut.

Prices vary from one design to the next but are typical gown are generally in the range of £1000 to £5000 GBP. A payment plan is available on Morúa Designs Couture Gowns. The plan is as follows 25% upon the placement of an order, 25% after completion of the muslin mock up, and 50% before receiving the final product. Please note that applicable VAT taxes for the full cost are due with the final payment. In addition paypal, or bank transfer fees will apply for each separate payment.
